Environmental and social sustainability initiative contest geared toward students and employees in all academic units for the purpose of promoting and strengthening competencies, skills and potential for solidarity through the design and execution of volunteering initiatives with a positive impact on the community.
The first edition was held in 2017 and, to date, over 150 students and employees from all of our locations have participated in the contest. In addition, motivational, training and advisory sessions have been held to help participants enhance their ideas and present them for the contest.
The initiative seeks to simplify beneficiaries’ adaptation to the new urban lifestyle. For this purpose, a community will be created to help new students get to know the city in a safe way and learn about the benefits the university offers to improve academic performance.
This initiative invites the USIL community and external people with different abilities to participate in Creaton (CreateAthon), where innovative proposals that help solve social or community problems will be presented. Thanks to our partners, we will be doing online training on technology applicable to innovative, sustainable undertakings.
Project that fosters the production and use of bicycles made with recycled wood and used tires. We will hold workshops involving families, faculty and students in the construction of bicycles without pedals, which will be donated to children in the community de OCCOPATA. In addition, our project will contribute to children’s motor, cognitive, emotional and athletic development, creating an important sustainability alternative.
Initiative that seeks to replace indifference with kindness toward the cleaning staff at USIL. Through an innovative and entertaining visual marketing campaign, we will change perceptions and attitudes toward them, as we want to help reduce social inequality.
Initiative that arose due to the need for better air quality on the USIL campus, addressing air pollution with an innovative, sustainable solution: photocatalytic paint. This will purify auto emissions. We will paint murals in strategic places on the university campuses. Our partners are Asociación Aire, the Office of the Vice President of Sustainability and all the student volunteers.
This initiative fosters environmental knowledge among students of the Semillitas de Villa Sol school through dynamic, practical, hands-on workshops to plant a vegetable garden and produce compost. Nine sessions were held with the support of groups of volunteers, each of which had a leader. As students developed their skills, their participation was encouraged, their creativity and their sense of belonging were enhanced, and their skills for environmental protection and responsibility were put into practice. The organic waste generated by the garden was used to produce compost to improve its productivity.
Initiative that raises faculty members’ awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle that can be replicated in their homes, families and among their friends, achieving adequate personal and professional performance. Modo USIL (USIL Style) sought to make the lifestyles of USIL Institute of Entrepreneurs – North Lima faculty members healthier through primary nutrition, sports and secondary nutrition, focusing on healthy eating and proper hydration.
This initiative seeks to cover the lack of training and the need for business, technical and emotional advice among 20 women from a soup kitchen in the Independencia district. They haven’t had the resources or opportunity to develop their skills. The idea is to empower them through a novel, mobile, ecological business model, using food bikes as their main tool. The food bikes will operate at food fairs (San Miguel and Miraflores) to keep the women safe.
The overall objective of the initiative was to improve the level of knowledge of the potential of people with disabilities and the difficulties they face among USIL General Education faculty and students. The specific objectives were to facilitate access to specific information on interaction with students with disabilities in class and to expand knowledge of the regulations, processes and support spaces for students with disabilities.
Initiative of USIL undergraduate students, who implemented an entertaining space at the Los Anillos park in the Lima district of Ate to strengthen the bond between 200 parents and children through reading comprehension, social skills and environmental awareness.
Winning initiative of students from the Institute of Entrepreneurs who, in partnership with Techo Perú, joined forces to create a public recreational space in the low-income neighborhood of El Trebol in the Lima district of San Juan de Miraflores, benefitting 300 families. The main inputs were recycled materials and community labor.
Winning initiative of CPEL students who trained and empowered 15 homemakers from the low-income neighborhood of Nueva Generation de Pamplona in the Lima district of San Juan de Lurigancho to create a community baking business called QUEQUE & QUEQUO, drawing upon skills and knowledge acquired in a workshop on business administration, finance, marketing and cooking.
Winning initiative in the employee category at San Ignacio de Recalde School. Participants raised awareness and trained 150 5th grade students on environmental education and energy savings, in order to create environmental protection brigades to lead the way at the primary school level.
